Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Connect & Collaborate Conference held at Highfield's recently opened Coffee Social venue. It was wonderful to reconnect with familiar faces and welcome new attendees, with the hope that they may become valuable future members of our network.
The day was jam packed with regional talking points, everything from audit paperwork, Apprenticeships, AEB, Numeracy and Member benefits / new updates. For those that did not attend this event, we wish to share some important changes coming to the network from the 31st March 2024.

Dear Members,
As I reach my 6th year leading SYPN as your Chair I have taken the difficult decision to step down from 31st March and retire from professional time.
As with any change I have had an opportunity to reflect on my time as chair and think about how far we have come together and what we have achieved collectively. I leave the network in a strong and positive position; we have a board which is truly representative of the sector and reflects the needs of the South Yorkshire business community. This includes board directors from two of the regions FE college groups, Barnsley and Sheffield, directors from entry level Independant providers and ITPS which cover the wide range of programmes and skills our residents and local business community needs to thrive and grow.
We've expanded our membership to include the widest range of Independent provision, including a number of providers who deliver non funded services, adding value and a different dimension to our offer. In terms of achievements, we sit as an equal partner on the South Yorkshire Regional Skills Advisory Board ( RSAB ) with key regional and national stakeholders including SYMCA, DFE, The 4 Regional Local Authorities, the Federation of Small Businesses and Unions.
We have been integral with Sheffield College as lead in establishing the regional Apprenticeship Hub and Levy matching service which is starting to deliver positive outcomes for our residents and businesses. We sit as an equal partner of South Yorkshire Skills collaborative led by Barnsley College for the region. As a result of that collaboration, we have delivered outcomes through SDF2 and are delivering outcomes through LSIF funding to positively engage non engaged regional employers in the skills agenda and linking those employers to the great provision we have within our network . Finally, we have a place at the table on the Northern Skills Network board which gives the north a collective voice on the national Skills stage .
I'm immensely proud and honoured to have been given the opportunity to be your chair and look forward to watching from the side lines as the network goes from strength to strength. I leave you in the very capable hands of Lisa Hawksby as interim chair.
Many thanks for your support and positivity over the years.
